Comforting Mourners on Shabbat and Holidays

Is it permissible to comfort mourners on Shabbat and holidays?
Answer
It is a mitzvah to comfort mourners even on Shabbat and holidays. However, one does not say the formula used on weekdays; instead, on Shabbat, one says, 'Shabbat is for comfort, and comfort is near.' On Yom Tov, one says, 'Yom Tov is for comfort,' etc.
