Tithing from Father's Inheritance
Question
I inherited a sum of money from my father. At his request, I’m giving an equal portion to my sister. Am I supposed to separate maaser from the full amount first and then give her share? Or can I deduct her portion, give it to her, and only then take maaser from the amount that remains for me?
Answer
Shalom u'vracha
There is no need to tithe from the entire amount, only from the amount that remains with you after you give to your sister.
