Gift for an Orphan from Tithe Money

Question

I give a fifth of my tithe, and I have a friend who is an orphan and sick. Is it permissible for me to buy her a more expensive birthday gift and pay from the tithe?

If it is a genuine need of the friend, it is permissible to add from the tithe money.
