Returning an Opened Product

Hello, I bought a closed product in a store, opened it, and it didn't suit me, so I returned it opened (but intact and new) and took another product. Am I required to pay for returning it opened without packaging?

It is mandatory to obtain approval from the store owners for this, as it is something that is usually strictly adhered to, and it also decreases the value of the product.
