Store Owner Does Not Want Money

Question

Hi,I purchased a bookcase from a furniture store. There were issues with the installation of the unit, and not all the defects were fixed. I’m also not satisfied with the quality of the bookcase, and the store owner admits that our complaints are justified. The store owner insists that I should not pay for the bookcase until I am satisfied with it.However, it has now been two and a half years since the purchase, and the defects have still not been corrected, due to the owner's lack of time. Despite this, he still refuses to accept payment. Is it possible to give him a set deadline to fix the defects, and if he doesn't, then we will pay the amount we think it is worth with the defect? If not, what can we do?

Answer

Shalom,

If the store owner doesn’t want his money, why are you in a rush to pay him?

You certainly have the right to demand that he come and fix the bookcase so that you receive the product you expected.

But as for the payment—there’s nothing to discuss if he doesn’t want to accept it.
