I have funds invested in investment tracks of the Menora insurance company.
Question
Hello,
I have funds invested in investment tracks of the Menora insurance company.
1. According to Halacha, am I obligated to choose a kosher investment track? Does this law also apply to pensions and provident funds?
2. I want to take a loan based on the funds in the fund. Menora provides a loan of up to 78% of the fund. Is it permitted to rely on the company’s heter iska, or must I make an additional heter iska myself? In summary: Is it permitted to take this loan from a halachic standpoint (ribit/heter iska)?
Answer
Hello and blessings.
1. Yes. Both for investments and for savings.
2. Check what heter iska they have in their possession.
