Loan with Interest to Pay the Credit Card Bill

Question

Hello and blessings. We are reaching the end of the month, and all the credit card charges are supposed to be deducted at the beginning of next month. Is it permitted lechatchilah to spread out payments on a credit card even though there is interest, in order to ease the expenses, or is it preferable to obtain money another way, such as from a gemach, in order to fill the account?

Answer

Hello and blessings

Fundamentally, if the credit card company has a high-standard heter iska, and you have a business [or an apartment that you own, which in Eretz Yisrael is considered like a business], you may take a loan from the credit card company with interest.

However, it is certainly more proper to avoid this and to take from a gemach with no interest at all.
