“Cibus” Budget for Partial Work

Hello,
I left my job about a month ago.
At my previous workplace, I received Cibus on a monthly basis.
Cibus is a monthly sum of money received at the beginning of the month from the employer in order to purchase food at certain stores.
At the beginning of the last month of my work, I received the full monthly Cibus amount.
It should be noted that I had notified them before the beginning of the month that I was leaving.
In addition, when I began my job, I did not work a full month and received a reduced amount.
I inferred from the fact that I received the full amount that I could use the full Cibus amount even though I would not be working all the days.
After I had already finished the job, they sent me a message saying that I owed them money for the Cibus.
They sent a fictitious payslip, and the debt was not clear from the payslip; they only wrote in the email that it was for the Cibus.
According to the inquiry I made, legally I have no obligation to return the money.
After I did not show willingness to pay, Human Resources told me that they would not require me to return it.
From a halachic standpoint, am I obligated to return it?

If according to the law you do not need to return it, then according to Halacha as well you are not obligated to return it.
