I threw away a candy that had an insect on it

Question

I was in a nut and snack store and saw a dead cockroach stuck to one of the candies being sold in bulk. I took the piece and threw it in the garbage so that others would not be caused to stumble.
Am I obligated to pay for the candy?

You do not need to pay; what you threw away is not worth a perutah.
