Damaged a Motorcycle That Was Parked Illegally
Question
There was a motorcycle parked by a red-and-white curb on the road, meaning illegally, and I was driving my car lawfully. Since it was on a downhill slope, even though any light touch would normally do nothing, because it was on a slope it broke the cover of his turn signal and the brake lever. What is the ruling?
Answer
Shalom u’verachah
If you did not intend to damage it, you are exempt from paying.
But if you intended to cause damage, you are liable.
