Unsure Whether I Damaged a Car

Hello, Rabbi,
I parked on Thursday night (the night of the 1st of Elul) somewhere on the street between two cars, and when I tried to leave, I was relatively very close to the car behind me. Before the car moved forward (as it does in drive), it moved slightly backward (at least in my car, before it moves forward, it moves slightly backward and then moves forward), and I touched the car behind me (at least that is what I think, because I heard a small noise). Afterward, I immediately got out to see whether I had done anything to his car, and I saw a few things on it (from what I saw, there were at least two places on that car where it had a small dent), but I do not know whether that was already there beforehand or whether I caused it.
(I want to clarify that if I knew for certain that it was me, I would certainly have left a note or something; I only told myself that I do not know whether I did it at all.)
What is the law? What should I do?
