Unsure Whether I Damaged a Car

Hello, Rabbi,
I parked on Thursday night (the night of 1 Elul) somewhere on the street between two cars, and when I tried to leave I was relatively very close to the car behind me. The car, before moving forward (as it does in Drive), moved slightly backward (at least in my car, before it moves forward it moves slightly backward and then moves forward), and I touched the car behind me (at least that is what I think, because I heard a small noise). Afterward I immediately got out to see if I had done anything to his car, and I saw a few things on it (from what I saw, there were about two places on this car with a small dent [body damage]), but I do not know whether that was already there from before or whether I caused it.
(I want to clarify that if I knew with certainty that it was me, I certainly would have left a note or something; I only said to myself that I do not know whether I did it at all.)
What is the law? What should I do?
