He rented a car from City Car and a nail got into the tire—does he need to notify them, and if so…

Question

Hello.

He rented a car from City Car and a nail got into the tire. Does he need to notify them, and if so, may he repair it himself instead?

Answer

Hello and blessings.

Answer: If this shortens the life of the tire, he must notify them. As a matter of strict law, he may repair it himself unless their regulations state otherwise; and if there is a concern that they will take money from him unlawfully, he may repair it himself.
