Publishing a Summary of Another Person’s Book, a Sacred Book, for Profit

Question

A. Is it permitted to summarize a halachic book [which brings a collection of poskim] that someone else published, and sell it? And why?
B.  Likewise, is it permitted to write and publish a sacred book for profit, when this also brings personal benefit in Torah study and perhaps benefit to other people as well, and why?

Answer

Shalom u’vrachah

A. It is forbidden. He has copyrights on it.

B. It is permitted. There is no issue there with earning money by teaching others through a book.
