Picture Question

Question

My wife lovingly worked with someone to create a 3D keepsake of us from a photo without realizing the halachic issue. This is a delicate situation. The form of my wife does not show feet as her gown goes to the bottom so no legs or feet are there. The form of myself beside her is complete. What can I do to make this halachicly permissible?

Answer

Shalom!

Thank you for your question.

Le'halcha we say that one only has to deform the statue if it could be taken apart like a doll since by refixing it one would transgress a prohibition. However, since your 3D image isn't one that could be taken apart even though to make such a model one would have to consult a rabbi on how and when it would be permitted to do so even when asking a non-Jew to do it for you, nevertheless since it is already made, you may keep it as it is.
