A Woman Bathing with Men

Question

Can a woman in a modest swimsuit enter a pool with her brothers-in-law?

Answer

Shalom uVracha,

It is strictly forbidden.

As explained in the Gemara (Gittin 90b): “and she bathes with people.” With people? Could that be? Rather, in a place where people bathe.

Rashi explains: It means in a place where people are bathing — that she comes into their view after they have left, while they are in the middle of getting dressed.

It is clear that merely being present in a place where men bathe—even if not inside the same pool but just passing before them in order to bathe—is considered outright immodesty.
