Nursing in the Presence of Others
Question
What is the definition of a woman nursing in the marketplace? Does it apply even when she is covered, or is this a strict parameter or a higher standard?
What is the halachah when there is no choice, and in the presence of older brothers or brothers-in-law, and in the presence of her small children, age 3?
What is the halachah when there is no choice, and in the presence of older brothers or brothers-in-law, and in the presence of her small children, age 3?
Answer
Hello and blessings
It is permitted for her to nurse in the presence of her sons, while covering her body.
However, one should not nurse in the presence of others, including brothers-in-law and other relatives, even when her body is covered.
However, if the baby greatly needs it, it is permitted to nurse in the presence of others, but only with complete covering.
