Kiddushin with a plastic ring
Question
Hello Rabbi,
I would be grateful to receive the Rabbi’s opinion on a matter that is troubling me.
Recently, several dreams have recurred, and about four years ago I also had similar dreams, in which I dream that I need to divorce my “first husband,” and that my marriage to my current husband is not valid. Because of these dreams, I began to wonder whether there is any halachic basis from which they might stem.
About ten years ago, before I became religious, I was in a relationship. During a trip, my partner found a plastic ring on the ground, picked it up and said: “Behold, you are betrothed to me with this ring,” and placed it on my finger.
The ring was not his; it was something he had found at that moment. There were not two witnesses whom we knew. One person who happened to pass by said “Mazal tov,” but I do not know who he was, and there was no additional person who witnessed the act.
It is important for me to note that I very much wanted to get married at that time, but he, being divorced, did not want to marry again, and therefore I do not know whether he had any genuine intent for kiddushin at all, or whether it was an act done without seriousness.
Today, thank G-d, I am a baalat teshuvah, married according to the law of Moses and Israel, very happy with my husband, and we have two children. Precisely because the dreams recurred, I became concerned and wanted to ask whether there is any room for halachic doubt at all, or whether there is no reason for concern.
I would very much appreciate the Rabbi’s guidance.
Thank you very much.

Answer
Hello and blessings
In order to clarify the matter, I need to understand:
You wrote: “There were not two witnesses whom we knew.”
Were there two people there, but you did not know them, or were there not two people there at all who saw the act?
