The Kashrut of Medicines Throughout the Year
Question
Are medicines that are kosher for Pesach also kosher throughout the year?
The medicine appears in the Badatz booklet for Pesach. Does this mean that it also has Badatz kashrut certification for the rest of the year?

Answer
Shalom u’vrachah
No. The Badatz emphasizes in their list that they take no responsibility for kashrut throughout the year, since someone who needs a medicine may take it even without kashrut certification. Only because of the stringency of Pesach do they check the matter of chametz.
In practice, any medicine may be taken; only dietary supplements, such as preparations for relieving heartburn and the like, require kashrut certification.
