Cutting on a Dairy Board
Question
We cut an onion with a pareve knife on a dairy cutting board. What is the status of the knife?
Answer
Shalom Rav,
If the cutting board is truly dairy, the onion that was cut becomes dairy, and the knife absorbs from it and also becomes dairy. However, the board does not become dairy unless an onion was cut on it together with milk. Or if it was used for hot dairy food in a primary vessel.
[A very rare case for a cutting board, but possible if it is used as a cover for a primary vessel with hot milk that emits steam].
