Absorption of Taste in Glass Utensils

Question

Does glassware absorb the taste of prohibition?

Answer

There is a disagreement: according to the Mechaber, glass does not absorb. According to the Rema, it absorbs but does not release immediately, rather gradually. Therefore, it cannot be purged from the absorbed prohibition, and hot food that touches it becomes prohibited.
