Kashering a Coffee Machine
Question
I saw that the rabbi wrote regarding a coffee machine that in order to kasher it, a technician needs to take something apart and reconnect it. If I want to do this myself, which part of a Nespresso machine needs to be disassembled in order to kasher the machine?
Answer
Shalom u'vrachah
There is no specific part that needs to be disassembled.
One must disassemble a part that disables use of the appliance, and that not every person knows how to or is able to repair. Rather, it must be something defined as a “ma'aseh uman”—a skilled craftsman’s act.
On the other hand, it is not necessary for a professional technician to do the disassembly; any person may perform a complicated or complex repair that requires skill.
