A ruling that the questioner does not trust

Rabbi Natan Kopshitz ruled for me that I may not rely on the ruling of a halachic authority if my heart does not trust that his ruling is true. The question is whether this is correct. And if it is not correct, what is the proof of that? If possible, I would ask that the question be asked to the rabbi himself.
