The Fast of Tisha B’Av — Kidney Stone
Question
In recent years, every few months/year I have had pain because of a kidney stone. It has always passed spontaneously, without invasive intervention (though I did take medications to dilate the ureter). I have been to the emergency room several times with severe pain, and there was even a partial urinary obstruction and blood in the urine.
Two weeks ago I was in the emergency room because of a stone that had been causing me pain for several weeks. After imaging, it turned out that the stone had passed (they saw swelling in the ureter).
Am I required to fast on Tisha B’Av and Yom Kippur?

Answer
Shalom and blessings.
According to what you describe, at present there is no stone and no risk, and therefore you must fast.
If, according to the doctors, fasting causes the stone to form, it should be permitted to eat and drink.
