Fasting on Tisha B'Av - Diarrhea

Question

Fasting on Tisha B'Av with a sensitive bowel—diarrhea: what should one do?

Answer

Shalom u'vrachah

One who, due to the diarrhea, is defined as a “choleh” — that is, he has become bedridden or his whole body is ill — is exempt from fasting.

One who is not in this category should begin fasting, and if due to the diarrhea he becomes weak and reaches a state of illness, he should eat and drink.
