Fast of Tisha B'Av - Low Hemoglobin
Question
My daughter is seven and a half months pregnant, with a hemoglobin level of 10.3 and experiencing weakness. Is she required to fast on Tisha B’Av?
Answer
Shalom uVracha,
If hemoglobin is below 10, one should not fast.
If it’s above 10 and there’s no unusual weakness, dizziness, contractions, or similar symptoms, one should fast.
If any of those symptoms are present, they should not fast.
