Fast of Tisha B'Av - Pregnancy with Low Hemoglobin
Question
A woman in her seventh month of pregnancy with a hemoglobin level of 9.5—does she need to fast? And if she is exempt, to what extent? Is it that she simply doesn't have to fast, or is it actually forbidden for her to fast? Also, is there a difference between eating and drinking in this case?
Answer
Shalom,
A pregnant woman with hemoglobin less than 10 should not fast at all.
She should eat and drink as usual.
