Cleaning the House Before Shabbat — When One Will Not Be Staying There

Question

Does the permission to clean the house in honor of Shabbat during the Nine Days also apply when one will not be at home on Shabbat?

Answer

Shalom u’vrachah

Strictly speaking, there is no prohibition against cleaning the house.

For one who follows the custom to prohibit it, the leniency applies only for the sake of honoring Shabbat, and that is not relevant when you are not at home.
