Renovating Items During the Nine Days

Question

I have a bicycle in poor condition. Is it permissible to renovate it and fix all the issues during the Nine Days, or is it like buying a new bicycle?

Answer

It is permissible to renovate any item or object during the Nine Days; the prohibition is on purchasing items that bring joy.
