Hotel stay during the Nine Days
Question
We live in Bnei Brak, and I have some errands to take care of in Jerusalem, I would also like to pray at the Kotel. Is it permitted to travel during the week of the Nine Days and stay in a hotel? For reference, we are Sephardic. Thank you.
Answer
Shalom UvRacha,
It is permitted to go to a hotel during the Nine Days.
The difference between Ashkenazim and Sephardim applies to the other mourning-related customs: Ashkenazim observe them starting from Rosh Chodesh, while Sephardim begin only during the week in which Tisha B'Av falls.
