The Nine Days: No Clothes Left, Laser Hair Removal

Question

If no clean underwear remains during the week in which Tisha B’Av falls, is it permitted to do laundry, and is it preferable to buy new ones?
(And what about regular clothing, when all the clothes already give off a bad smell and are difficult to wear?)

May a woman undergo laser hair removal during the Nine Days, and if so — may she shave the hair for that purpose?

Answer

Shalom u’vrachah.

1. Between Rosh Chodesh Av and the week in which Tisha B’Av falls, it is preferable to wash them.

During the week in which Tisha B’Av falls, it is preferable to buy new ones. One should give them to a young child to wear for a few hours.

2. It is forbidden. Laser treatment is also considered shaving.
