Connecting the Supports of the Sechach with a Zip Tie
Question
Is it permissible to connect two short boards with a zip tie in order to create a long board, and to place the sechach on it (for a sukkah)?

Shalom u’verachah
It is forbidden to do so.
The sechach would not remain standing were it not for the zip tie, and if so, it is the “support” of the sechach. And it is forbidden to support the sechach with something that is not valid for sechach.
