A Minor Who Needs to Sleep in the Sukkah

Question

Is a 7-year-old child obligated to sleep in the sukkah? And if so, what should be done if the sukkah is small, the child goes to sleep early, and I want to continue learning there, and the like?

Answer

Shalom u’vrachah 

The age of chinuch is from approximately age 5–6, since at that age the child is defined as “not needing his mother.” 

Since you are obligated in educating the child, you must see to it that he is able to sleep in the sukkah. You should learn in another place.
