Glass Surface of Gas Stove

We tried to clean it as best as we could, but there remains a black substance around the burners that won't come off unless we scratch the glass hard. We scraped as much as we could, poured hot water, and scraped again, but the black remains. We dried it and put thick aluminum foil. We have high racks for Passover. We wanted to know if this is sufficient?

There is no need to remove the remaining material; it is certainly burnt and completely damaged.
