Matza: How Old?
Question
Shalom. How long time in advance can you at earliest make Matsos, for Pesach? Kol tov Chaim Jeshurun
Answer
Shalom!
Thank you for your question.
Although the opinion of the Bach is that one should only bake Matzot thirty days before Pesach, in practice Le'halcha we say that Matzot can be made any time before the holiday. Indeed, most matza bakeries start baking around Chanuka time. One may even eat matza made years ago.
If the matzot are really old they should be checked for bugs before eating.
