Work Before Lighting Hanukkah Candles

Is it permissible to load laundry into the washing machine half an hour before lighting the Hanukkah candles?

It is permissible to load laundry before lighting the candles. The prohibition against engaging in work close to the lighting of the candles applies only to work that takes a long time or can be extended, but short work is permitted.
