Fasting While Working
Question
Shalom, Rabbi,
I work in an office. I am not able to both work and fast.
Do I need to take a day off so that I can fast on the Seventeenth of Tammuz?
One more question: is there any value in fasting from food while drinking water?
Thank you very much

Answer
Shalom and blessings.
You should try not to work, and then you will be able to fast according to halachah.
If it is not possible not to work, begin fasting. If you become weak to the degree of a “sick person,” eat and drink as usual.
There is no value in a partial fast on fast days [except for Yom Kippur].
