Learning to Play Music During the Omer Days

My wife is teaching our children to play the guitar. Is there an issue with playing music during the Omer counting days (it is not a financial loss) since at the early stage of learning, it is not yet joyous melodies but merely some sounds?

It is permitted to learn to play music during the Omer days, only playing for enjoyment is prohibited.
