A Loose or Tight Tzitzit Knot?
Question
Is it preferable to make the tzitzit string tight against the garment or loose?
Answer
Shalom and blessings
The tzitzit knot should be made somewhat tight against the garment.
This is because the knot must remain in a position in which it is “hanging over the corner,” meaning that it is positioned toward the side of the corner, and in this way the strings “hang” and descend along the side of the corner. It is therefore necessary not to make it loose in a way that it will not hold onto the corner.
However, it also does not need to be made too tight.
