Passing Over Mitzvot in the Context of Blessings Over Enjoyment
Question
Shalom, Rabbi. If a person took a tallit out of its case and then remembered that he had not recited Borei Nefashot Rabbot over food or drink that he had consumed, may he recite Borei Nefashot while still holding the tallit? Or must he first recite the blessing on the tallit because of the principle that one does not pass over mitzvot?
Answer
Shalom u’verachah
It seems that this does involve a prohibition of passing over mitzvot, and he should first recite the blessing on the tallit and afterward recite the blessing over the food he ate.
