Tachanun or “Aleinu” with the congregation

Question

A person prayed the Shemoneh Esrei prayer at Minchah and prolonged his prayer, and when he finished, the congregation had already reached Aleinu Leshabe’ach, with about 3 minutes remaining until sunset. Should he say Tachanun, or say Aleinu Leshabe’ach together with the congregation?

Answer

Shalom and blessings.

He should say Tachanun, since its primary time is only immediately after the Shemoneh Esrei.
