Reading the Haftarah from an Incomplete Parchment Scroll or from a Printed Tanakh

Question

Shalom, I have the option of reading the Haftarah from a Book of Nevi’im on parchment in which several columns are missing at the end, or from a printed Tanakh. Which is preferable?

Answer

Shalom u’vrachah

A Navi on parchment is preferable, even if pages are missing.

For the custom was to read from “sifrei de’aftarta,” which contained only the Haftarot.
