Casing of the Torah Scroll

Is there any halachic issue with changing the style or casing of our Torah scroll?

Description: The Torah scroll is similar to a Sephardic Torah scroll because it has a hard case (Torah scroll cover). The hard case surrounds the parchment, and the wooden rollers are attached to the case at the top and bottom. There is no belt and no soft cover. The Torah scroll is placed on the bimah like a regular Ashkenazic Torah scroll, but the hard case remains underneath it. The case seems to be part of the Torah scroll and not normally separated from it, similar to a Sephardic Torah scroll. I assume it can be separated for rolling, but during regular use it is not removed.

During lifting the Torah, it is opened only a small amount. The person who closes the Torah only closes it; there is no rolling, belt, or mantle involved.

The way you described it, it seems like the minhag of the Teimanim and is perfectly in order.
