Prayer While Urine Is Dripping
Question
Is it permissible to pray while urine is dripping for a person whose muscles are somewhat weak? And likewise, may he study Torah? And does one fulfill the obligation of Keriat Shema in this way? Or must he read again the words during which his body was not clean? And what is the halachah regarding a prayer that is rabbinic in nature?
Answer
Shalom u’vrachah,
While urine is leaving the body, it is forbidden to study Torah or pray. However, as soon as the dripping stops and the urine has been absorbed into the garment, it is permissible to study Torah and pray if there is no foul odor there and the outer garment is clean of urine.
