Smell of a Lizard Carcass
Question
Hello Rabbi, if a person is praying in the synagogue and during the prayer finds a lizard carcass near his seat, and he notices a slight, strange smell but does not know for certain whether the smell is coming from it — how should he conduct himself? Is he permitted to continue praying in that place?
Answer
Hello and blessings
If there is a smell of decay, it is forbidden to pray there.
If there is only a faint smell that does not bother people, it is permitted.
