Standing during the Recitation of “Yishtabach”
Question
In the Shacharit prayer, must one stand for the blessing of Yishtabach, or may it be recited while seated?
Answer
Shalom u’vrachah
The Rema (siman 51, se’if 7) mentions that this is the custom: to stand for “Yishtabach.”
And in the Mishnah Berurah (siman 53, se’if katan 1), he writes that this was the practice of “anshei ma’aseh” — people of exemplary conduct.
