Order of Blessing When You Have Rice and Schnitzel
Question
I have rice and schnitzel in front of me, which should I bless first?
Answer
Even though there is a dispute regarding the blessing for schnitzel, since practically the blessing for schnitzel is 'Shehakol', you should bless the rice first because the 'Mezonot' blessing precedes 'Shehakol', and then bless 'Shehakol' on the schnitzel. The schnitzel is not exempted by the 'Mezonot' blessing because there is no intention to exempt the rice with the schnitzel's blessing.
