Tefillat HaDerech between Jerusalem and Modi’in Illit

Question

Hello Rabbi
Does one not recite Tefillat HaDerech from Modi’in Illit to Jerusalem?

Answer

Hello and blessings

The ruling of our teacher Rabbi Amram Fried shlita is that one should not recite Tefillat HaDerech with a berachah when traveling from Jerusalem to Modi’in Illit, or vice versa.

Since the threshold for the obligation, for Ashkenazim, is the measure of a parsah, there must be a distance of 4.600 km without houses.

This is even more so according to Sephardim, who measure the obligation according to a city-to-city travel time of 72 minutes.
