Question

I heard that a close friend got engaged. Can I recite the blessing of Shehecheyanu or Hatov Vehametiv?

Answer

Shalom Rav and Mazal Tov

 It is not customary today to recite a blessing on good news, as it is unclear what level of joy is required.
