Participation in a mixed wedding

Question

Recently I had the opportunity to meet a second cousin for the first time in my life, and she invited me to her son’s wedding, but added that he is not religious and that the wedding will be accordingly. Am I permitted to go? I feel that precisely because we have only now had the chance to get to know each other, it would make her especially happy and would upset her if I do not come.

Answer

Shalom u’vrachah.

It is permitted to participate in the meal, but not in the dancing.
