Canceling a Torah class for a Hachnasat Sefer Torah

I give a Torah class between Minchah and Ma’ariv. Today, just as I began the class, a Hachnasat Sefer Torah passed right outside the synagogue, and we were unsure whether we needed to cancel the class and go out for the Hachnasat Sefer Torah [it is a short class, and if we had gone out, in all likelihood the class would have been canceled entirely, or at least most of it], or to give the class and not go out.

I would very much appreciate knowing what we were supposed to do, and if there are sources for the answer, I would be happy to know them.

One is not obligated to go out to accompany a Hachnasat Sefer Torah. 

And since that is the case, the regular class should not be canceled.
